The editor

Klaus-Gerd Giesen is the founder and editor of Academic Foresights. He is currently professor of political science at the Université Clermont Auvergne in Clermont-Ferrand, France, and has published or edited ten books, working papers and special issues of journals, as well as about sixty academic articles or book chapters, mainly in the fields of international relations and political philosophy. He received his doctoral degree from the University of Geneva, Switzerland, and has successively been assistant and instructor at the University of Geneva, “privat-docent” at the University of Lausanne (Switzerland), adjunct professor and professor at the Catholic University of Louvain (Belgium), as well as professor at the University of Leipzig, Germany, where he was for some time director of the Institute of Political Science.


In addition, he taught several years as visiting professor at the University of Lausanne ,Switzerland, and at the Free University in Brussels, Belgium, as well as at the Ecole des Hautes Etudes on Sciences Sociales in Paris, France, at the Université de Champagne-Ardenne (France), at the Institut d’Etudes Politiques in Aix-en-Provence (France). He was visiting researcher at the philosophy department of the University of Southern California in Los Angeles (USA) and at the Division of Humanities and Social Sciences of the California Institute Technology in Pasadena (USA). He also taught for three years at the University of Lyon (France).


His academic prizes: Prix Lemonon of the Institut de France (1994); Prix Schappler of the Société Académique de Genève (1992).
